I have finally made it to the Nation's Capital! What an amazing city! And I haven't even begun to explore it! My nervous but exciting day began with me flying out of Mosinee, Wisconsin, to Detroit, Michigan. Once I arrived in Detroit I hopped onto another airplane who was headed to Washington, D.C.. Flying was pretty interesting considering I have never flown by myself. But I am glad to say that I made it through each airport and flight without any problems! Once in D.C. I had the opportunity to flag down my first ever Taxi!!! What an experience! HA! My Taxi driver was pretty cool! He could tell I was pretty nervous and that I was not from the area. He helped a great deal by informing me of places where I could go and should! And places where I shouldn't step foot in or near by! Great Taxi driver!
Once I arrived to the Washington Center and my apartment, I checked in and received my apartment and mailbox keys and my ID badge. After receiving these items I headed to my new apartment which will be considered my new home for the next three months! What an amazing facility! I will get pictures up as soon as I can! Anyways, I was informed that today was meant for getting settled in and providing time for us students to explore the city. The only thing on the agenda for the day is a meeting at 7 for all students living in the facility. Other then that its free time until tomorrow! This gives me time to unpack and it also gives me time to get in a much needed run!
Tonight will mostly be spent reading up on all orientation information and the agendas set in places for tomorrows activities. Tomorrow is going to be a long day considering that I will be meeting with my Law and Criminal Justice advisor in regard to finding out how my internship is going to run and how the TWC program is going to work throughout the next three months. This also includes finding out how to get to my internship site and what will be expected of me. The next couple days will also be spent on getting my independent classes together and ready to go. Not only am I taking two course independently through Saint Mary's but I am also taking a Forensic Psychology course here at the Washington Center. Looks like its going to be a long, stressful, exciting, adventures, and fun semester!
Ok. Time to start unpacking and maybe if I have time I could get a nap in!
Everyone take care and God Bless!
